Day 17:
Profile
The famous Springbrook climb. I was pumped for this one, I didn't dream about it, but I may have creamed myself over it. Nah that's a lie. I was excited though.
This is what I saw at the lookout. |
Little did I know, mainly because I have no internets, that the road I took to Springbrook was going to be so hilly. There were some steep pitches which took a punching - Gilbert style.
No internets IS SHIT. What the hell do people do all day without the ability to look at random stuff, find details to things, work out who that chic was in that movie and what other movies she was in, then find and download them. And check facebook incessantly. And watch porn.
I got rich describing nature to you |
Turns out people with no internets have strict routines that involve the following: Opening blinds, windows and doors before breakfast. Planning lunch and dinner after washing breakfast dishes, washing of dishes occurs after every meal. Watching the Today show - Sunrise is too bright, loud and too unstructured for old people. It's important to note that old people DO NOT multi-task. Everything is done in isolation, I guess because they don't have any lost time, so they have no time to make up. Why have your paper delivered when you can use up an hour of your day by driving into town to fetch it! Talking to other old people on the phone about grand kids, great grand kids and things that happened - that were only slightly important or amusing - the other day, and how the youth of today are out of control. Watching the midday news, followed by the afternoon news, and finally, the evening news. Cooking elaborate dinners that ALWAYS have meat and three veg - as if there could be anything else. Drinking lots of tea. Standing in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil. Looking at neighbours through the window. Washing every article of clothing from the previous day - whites and darks can't mix! - and having it dry and put away before dark. Closing all doors, windows and blinds at sun down. And last but not least, shuffling around the house talking about the weather and what it is you will do with your degree when uni is finished.
Phew! What a day! Now I need 10 hours of sleep before I can even contemplate doing that all over again.
Tomorrow I'll hit Mount Tamborine, which is about 40-50km away, and much steeper than Springbrook.
Weather lady says the rain's a comin. That won't stop this hard man. Haha, stop.
